This week’s blog starts off with a celebration! Congratulations to our Gemma Lancaster, who gave birth to Henry Edward Carr at 2am 23rd November weighing a wonderful 9lb 7oz! News is that mother and baby are doing well!
Calendar Competition
Today is the closing date for the calendar competition, you have until 4:45pm today to submit your entries for our 2018 Desk Calendar. The photo above is one of our unsuccessful entries from last year, this one is titled Cumbrian Sunset and was taken by Andrew Browes and even though it didn’t make it into the calendar it just shows how high the standard of pictures is and what a tough decision we will have when voting opens next week!
Bravo Andrew, this is a stunner of a picture!
Christmas Jumpers at the ready!
This year we are having our Christmas Buffet in Stoddart 7138 and 7139 on 13th December.
The directorate will be providing the basics, for example sandwiches, sausage rolls, chicken drumsticks, antipasti, coleslaw, pork pie and pickled onions!. There also will be an assortment of soft drinks and fizz. Keep your eyes peeled for an update on what you can contribute from your teams.
Finally, get started on thinking for your team name for Helen Roberts’ Christmas quiz. There will be a prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Amy’s House – Christmas Card Donation
This year why not consider making a donation to Amy’s House via the just giving page instead of sending Christmas cards to your team? It’s not only a quick and easy way to make a donation for a great cause but it’s also environmentally friendly too.
Christmas Stall
Don’t forget we have the stall next week at the Christmas Fayre – there is still time to drop off any items you may wish to donate. We have all the volunteers we need for manning the stall but the more the merrier on the day if you are free!
Guardian Article
The VC has written an article in this week’s Guardian for the higher education network where he talks about how the new industrial strategy white paper could positively impact Universities and help our regions grow.
Green Champions’ Update
This week we have the green champion update from Ros Wastnidge.
“Now the colder weather is upon us the Sustainability Team are turning their attention to saving energy and have just launched their behaviour change campaign “Think, Act, Save”.
