This week is the slightly delayed but as promised last instalment of my Summer Series, although it feels like an Autumn Series!
Sheffield West is not really a place which I have ever really visited, but after some research I will be sure to take a look!
First on my new ‘Sheffield West Bucket List’ is Lodge Moor Waterfalls! This place looks incredible, just 4 miles from West Street you find yourself out on the moors drinking in the breath taking views across Rivelin and Redmires reservoirs finding yourself on trails which track waterfalls on the Whyming Brook nature reserve.
Whilst you are on the reserve why not take a look at the history up there, where you can find left over marks from the world war training trenches. There are a number of different trail options, from an easy Whyming Brook 3 miler to the scenic 6 mile loop!
Lady Cannings Plantation is a world class mountain bike trail which opened in July 2015. Just a short ride along the Peak Park cycle route and situated on the edge of Houndkirk moor the trail is the ideal spot for experiencing the country then back into the hustle and bustle of the city in one day.
Finally, I have to mention Stanage. An absolute favourite with walkers and climbers alike this place is unreal! With views across Hope Valley from the top which are immense and I can only imagine what a sunset looks like from up there!
Now I know this is slightly on the cusp of West and South but with a place as beautiful as this its hard to not mention it.
That’s all from my summer series / not autumn. I’ll be back later in the year with something… fiery, spooky and festive!
