Clearing Stats
So this year’s Clearing happened with some big changes: calling delivered via unified comms, clearing on the web and front line offer making! Many members of staff across the University stepped outside their day jobs, and in many cases, comfort zone to join in Team Hallam Clearing and you can read more about some of the Finance & Planning experiences in this weeks blog.
Overall 3449 calls were taken by the clearing staff during the 10 hours, with 1970 calls out to students being made in the afternoon through a UCAS Track initiative. We made an impressive 1200 offers with interviews being offered as well.

Changes to financial Support for Students
As some of you will be aware, this year SHU is launching a new package of financial and non-financial support for students, the Student Success Scholarship.
In line with this, and other Access Agreement priorities, there will be changes to the way in which students access financial support packages in 2017/18. This includes the Hallam Hardship Fund. We are also supplementing our financial support packages with a new “Money Skills” offer, designed to be proactive in supporting students to better manage their money.
With that in mind, we’re offering some staff briefings to cover the following;
- The Student Success Scholarship – from application to award
- The Hallam Hardship Fund – a new way of applying and receiving support
- Money Skills – an overview of the project, aims and how you can refer students to it
The briefings we have planned will take place as follows, no need to book, just show up;
- Friday 1st September, 2-3pm, City – Charles Street 12.2.05
- Monday 4th September, 1-2pm, City – Owen 744
- Tuesday 5th September, 11-12am, Collegiate – HC 1.52
- Thursday 14th September, 10-11am, City – Owen 744
For further information – Please check shuspace from 18th September for full content on all of the above.
