The Friday Feeling 11/08/2017

So after this week’s weather who else is thinking Summer is over?

Here is a picture I took in Cyprus, at a beautiful little spot called Sirena Bay, way back at the end of May when we actually had some sunshine, I thought I would share it with you to try and prolong the ‘Summer Feels’.

Take a tour of the clearing suite and see our peeps in action!

Ever wondered what clearing is all about and what all that fuss and commotion is on A Level results day?  Get yourself down to a guided tour of the clearing suite in action on Thursday 17th August. Tours run from 12:00 to 13:00 and will take approximately 1/2 an hour, no need to book, just turn up.

Good luck to our Finance and Planning team who are taking part in clearing next week… Lorna Pettifer and Emma Scoffield are supervising one of the rooms.  Claire Boot, Zoe Sibeko, Kathryn Roughton, Leanne Rowland, Jo Solecki, Liz Windle, Grazina Manchester, Dave Szwejkowski, Marie Williams, Simon Taylor, Lucy Fawcett, Emma Richardson, Mark Holmes and Moi will all be taking calls.

FD Making a Difference – Partner Award

Congratulations to our very own Fran Davies on being shortlisted.

Well done to everyone else who was nominated and a very special pat on the back of the 9 who were nominated. 4 were from our Finance and Planning directorate.  It really goes to show how much of a positive impact our team has right across the University.

Roll on 19th October to see who brings home the award!

Read more about the awards on the FD Blog.

National Student Survey

So earlier this week the results came out from the NSS and it’s safe to say we have bucked the trend across other HEI’s as we have seen our overall satisfaction go up to 85% as the rest of the country saw an overall fall to 84%… GO Team Hallam!! Read more about it here.

Festivities with the Social Committee at the Manchester Markets

The Social Committee is organising a coach trip to the Manchester Christmas Markets for the last weekend of November. If you’ve never been to the German Markets I would highly recommend it there is loads to do.  It’s mostly shopping, eating, drinking and the occasional karaoke log cabbin! But seriously what more do you want?

Change of Blog URL

Last but finally not least, we have now changed the URL of the Blog to https://blogs.shu.ac.uk/fpnews so if you have it saved in your favorites you may need to update it.  Also, if any of you are having problems viewing images on the Blog please try to view it in Chrome.  DTS are working on a permanent fix for us which should be sorted by the beginning of September.
