Hi everyone
This week on The Friday Feeling:
Your successes
For our next Finance and Planning team brief don’t forget to send me your teams achievements, be them personal or professional.
It could be new additions to families, exam success, charity work or examples of “good news stories” where we have received positive feedback about the work we have been doing recently.
We need you! Advancing gender equality focus groups
Our colleagues in Equality & Diversity have recently been advertising their focus groups.
We have been involved in Athena SWAN work since 2008. We have held an institutional bronze award since 2010 and we are working to renew our award in November 2017.
The VC signed the University up to the new Athena SWAN principles to advance gender equality and enhance our University Strategy mission to transform lives. As part of our ongoing work, we would like to invite you to take part in a focus group to discuss several key areas so that we can find out how we are doing.
There are still a few places available so click the Eventbrite link below to book your place.

For all you keen photographers out there, this challenge is on 7 October and registration opens 1 June.
Easy Fundraising
You can raise money for Amy’s House without even realising you are doing it! You can shop and join us on Easyfundraising, who will donate a percentage of your shopping to Amy’s House.
Move More Month is back for June 2017 and once again the University is encouraging you to get active and record your physical activity throughout June to see how many combined minutes the city can record.
You can now sign up for the workplace challenge and find out more information here. Let us know if you are getting involved by emailing me or commenting on this post.
The Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015, places a duty on higher education institutions, amongst others, to have due regard to the need to prevent people being drawn into terrorism (the “Prevent Duty”). Universities also have a general legal duty to secure freedom of speech on campus, within the law.
The course is for all staff and is delivered in two ways – via an e-learning module and via a workshop. The material in the e-learning module and the workshop is the same, so staff won’t need to complete both.
The workshop is an hour-long interactive session and provides the opportunity for staff to discuss the key issues in the Prevent duty. Places can be booked via CORE Portal. Sessions are currently scheduled for:
• Wednesday 24 May 2pm-3pm
• June 2017: Monday 5 June 2pm-3pm
• Thursday 22 June 10am-11am
The E-Learning module takes 30 minutes to complete. If you would like access to this module, please contact Richard Hughes in the People Development team who will arrange this for you.
What else this week?
