To start the day, our wonderful SBS Events Students transported us to Hawaii. We were welcomed to the Island with a traditional Hawaiian lei and a glass of tropical punch before being tasked to make our own hula outfits out of recycled materials.
Now, as per usual, this was a competition because we all know what a competitive bunch we are, however Mark and Sohil appeared to up the ante with a particular part of their costumes…….

After lunch we set off on our Treasure Hunt with a twist. Working in mixed teams, you had decided over lunch who would be a Hunter and who would be a Thinker.
Our Hunters went out and about in Sheffield City Centre to look for the answers to 27 challenging clues, whilst our Thinkers stayed in Hawaii and raced against time to answer 10 themed mental challenges and win the opportunity to unlock bonus clues for their Hunters.
Some of our Hunters had a unique strategy for agreeing their approach to the Treasure Hunt……….
And the people of Sheffield wondered why there was so much finger pointing going on:
Meanwhile, back in Hawaii, our Thinkers were finding it all a little bit intense…
But still managed to whip together an impressive menagerie of balloon animal mascots
Just over 2 hours, thousands of steps and far too much thinking later our teams gathered back together to find out who had come our on top.
Well done to Team 5 (Kathryn B, Karen M, Melissa, Lorna, Andrew H, Andrew B, Mark T and Leanne) who scored an impressive 812 points out of a possible 1,031. The ‘Finance Away Day Champions’ trophy is yours to keep for the next 12 months!
