Last year some members of Finance got together and decided to run a half marathon to raise money for Amy’s House. They have just completed the Colour Dash and wanted to let us know about that and their running club.

After the success of Worksop Half Marathon last October, we have continued running but not as regular as we have been before.
This year, I fancied doing something fun instead. So when Colour Dash 2017 came up, I rallied the group to gather interest. After all 5km is a doddle when you’ve done 21.1km. Liz, Debbie and Sohil didn’t need much persuading but Louise couldn’t make it as she had other commitments on that day. The atmosphere on the day was fantastic with 3,000 participants of all ages, abilities and mostly in fancy costumes raring to go and get colour bombed. Before the run started, a group of dancers entertained us with their performances.
Then, came the warm up for the runners and to start us off we got some coloured powders and start throwing the colours at each other. Debbie and her family started off in front while mine and Liz’s family + Sohil started at the back. We went through 5 different colour stations : green, pink, red, orange and finally blue. What were once our pristine T-shirts and heads are now well and truly covered in various colours!
It was really good fun and all in aid of Bluebell Wood Hospice.
There’s still next year if anyone fancies it!
Also, it was nice to do this with our families and for my lot (hubby and daughter), they had just walked and jogged their first 5km that day.
Running can be fun so if anyone wants to come and join our lunchtime runs (when we can make it), you are most welcome to, send me an email to find out more by clicking the below link.
