I was thinking that as we only had a 3 day week this week that the Friday Feeling would be hard to fill, however there are plenty of updates for you all!
I saw this quote this week and thought I would share it with you all – if anyone else has anything they would like to share please send it to me.
Transforming Lives
The spring edition of Review magazine is out now, and it includes an interview by VC Chris Husbands. In it he explains the thinking around the universities new, bold aims and ambitions.
Over the past few weeks FPLT have sent us an email on each of the pillars inside Transforming Lives. These included a video about that pillar and ideas on how we as a Directorate can make an impact in achieving those aims and ambitions for the university.
If you missed the videos you can watch them again below.

Cybercrime
Over the next few weeks Lorna will be coming to your team meeting to talk to you about Cybercrime. As a university this is becoming a bigger threat than ever before, and in the past week alone I have heard of someone receiving a fake email from a @shu.ac.uk email address, a fake phone call from Microsoft wanting information about someone’s computer and a phone call from someone pretending to be a supplier to gain information illegally.
Don’t click on any links in an email or give out any information unless you are certain you know who the email or call has come from.
If you are a recipient of a suspicious email or phone call please report it to ‘!IT Help’.
Snap General Election
So this SHU-esday I had blissfully finished watching Homes under the Hammer when there was an interruption to my daytime TV viewing for the surprise announcement from our PM Teresa May.
One of our own academics Andy Price who is Head of Politics in D&S gave his views on Radio Sheffield, fast forward to 1hr 13mins to hear what he had to say.

STEM building tour
The new STEM building will be opening its doors on Monday, it is definitely worth a walk through at some point, especially if you get the train. It really does have a wow factor, so much so the only picture I took was of the Chemistry labs for HWB students (spot Matt in the background!).
VC Blog
The VC’s blog is changing, and we will now start receiving updates every fortnight – you can catch up on his latest post or sign up to have it sent straight to your inbox here.
Finance Charity Group
The Finance Charity group will be meeting next week to talk about some fundraising activities for the next few months, so watch out for an update next week!
What else this week?
