Can you believe that March is pretty much done and dusted? I am already enjoying the lighter nights, but not how fast this year seems to be going.
Here are this weeks updates:
Finance and Planning Directorate Blog
Hello to everyone in BIS, E&D and SPI who have today received our Blog for the first time. This is a good edition for all as we’re talking about how we can Transform Lives; what the VC thinks of Brexit; what we talked about in our Managers’ Workshop; how you can have a good old clearout of stuff to raise money for charity; and what you thought to our recent Directorate team brief.
If you have news that you’d like to share on the blog, or would like to do a guest post please either leave a comment below or email me or Vanessa.
Finance and Planning Managers’ Workshop
This week we had our very first Directorate Managers’ Workshop.
In the workshop our managers talked about:
- What they would like to get out of those sessions going forward.
- Simon gave some tips about how we could make the Strategy meaningful in our day to day working lives
- Carl ran a short session on appraisal and how we could make certain aspects of it more meaningful
- Debbie facilitated a couple of exercises around how we could develop a set of best practice principles about the giving and receiving of feedback
We’ll share some of the thoughts that came out of the session on the blog next week, but in the meantime, if you want to know more please speak to your manager.
Transforming Lives by Creating Knowledge (Part 2)
This week we received another video, this time by Professor Paul Harrison, explaining a bit more about what Creating Knowledge mean. FPLT have delved into this further and given us some examples in Finance and Planning where we can have a real impact and Transform Lives through this part of the strategy.
Please make sure you find the time to watch the video and have a proper read of the email we received on Wednesday. You can watch the video by clicking the picture below.
Red Nose Day
Last week Finance managed to raise an amazing £143.55 for Comic Relief – well done everyone!
We want your stuff!
Instead of making a special trip to the tip or charity shop, the Finance charity group will take your unwanted household items and toys off your hands. We are collecting items for a car boot sale to raise money for Amy’s House. We will hopefully be able to let you know a bit more soon. Just bring them along to level 5 of 1:11 or ask one of the Charity Group (Graz, Gemma, Jo, Liz, Karen or Vic) to give you a hand.
VC’s Blog
This week VC Chris Husbands is very topically talking to us about his views on Brexit and the interests of the University.
What else this week?
