Happy Friday team finance!
Today we all received emails from Bernie who is making a start on her action to set up a social committee, with a few ideas already on the horizon – exciting stuff! (Inv3. Set up a Social Committee to be responsible for organising fun work events e.g. Christmas Buffet and social events e.g. Summer social).
There have also been some other updates on actions on the plan from their owners, if you haven’t subscribed yet then it is worth doing on the ones you are interested in!
So I feel it is only apt that this week our quote was shared with me by Bernie herself (and has the added bonus of featuring a cat…)
Now onto our updates…
File Sharing – ZendTo
ZendTo is useful for tranferring files which are too large to send in an email
About ZendTo
-
It can transfer large files up to 2gb in total
-
It can be used by recipients outside of the university
-
It can be used by recipients inside the university who cannot access the same shared areas as you.
-
It isn’t restricted by email size limitations
-
It has replaced the SHU Dropbox because it is more secure, is easier to use and handles larger files
Valentine Raffle
Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket – we have raised another £104 to be added to our Amy’s House total.
University strategy
You can watch the VC’s video launching the strategy here, and you still have chance to go to a session next week where ULT talk through the strategy and answer your questions. I went on Wednesday and it was really interesting – so if you have the chance it is worth booking on.
International Women’s Day
It looks like a great programme and is open to ALL staff, irrespective of gender. All the info you need is here.
Sheffield Festival of Science and Engineering
Over 50 Fun, inspiring and free events will take place at the Sheffield Festival of Science and Engineering in March 2017 across the city centre.
Sheffield’s Festival of Science & Engineering celebrates world-class research in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). This diverse programme will fascinate, entertain and engage children, young people and adults alike – with events, talks and activities for all.
View the full programme of events and book tickets at the festival website.
Oneleven
For those of us in Oneleven please be advised that essential work to replace emergency lighting will begin on Tuesday 21 February. Contractors will be in the building between 6am and 5pm, and will be working a floor at a time.
Contractors will be working with step ladders within office areas during normal hours. You may also want to ensure that desks, floor areas and any personal belongings are stored neatly and safely.
We anticipate the work should take around five weeks to complete. If you have any queries please contact Martyn Robinson, design and project engineer, on x2715.
What else this week?
World Book Day – we need you!, Thank you from Philip, LICC coffee morning, LICC drop in sessions
