What is engagement?
There are over 100 definitions of employee engagement and it can sometimes be hard to grasp the concept. The working group have tried to tackle this by coming up with our very on Sheffield Hallam Finance Directorate definition of engagement:
“Happy to work together to meet worthwhile goals in an environment of mutual commitment, support, trust and respect.”
Please let your engagement champion know what you think, so we can capture your thoughts too.
Here is an infographic with more information on what was discussed on the day (Please click on the infographic twice to see in full):
One of the things your engagement champion will be talking to you about is some quick wins. What can we do now, that will make a big impact on the directorate. Please let your champions know what you think and if you have any ideas of your own.

In our next session we will be coming up with some Values for the Finance Directorate. We will try to get the the bottom of “What values do we as finance hold?” and “what really matters to us collectively?”
We will also be looking at the results of the Employee Engagement Health Check and come up with an action plan. How can we improve on what we already have?
