Restart a Heart Day 16th October 2019

As this is now only a week away, please have another read through the information below.  You never know when you might need it!

The Restart a Heart campaign (RSAH) is an national annual initiative led by the Resuscitation Council (UK) in partnership with The British Heart Foundation, British Red Cross, St John Ambulance, and Yorkshire Ambulance Service which aims to raise awareness about cardiac arrest and improve the low numbers of people surviving out-of-hospital cardiac arrests.

Across the UK, there are over 30,000 cardiac arrests outside of hospital every year, but the survival rate is less than 1 in 10.  Learn what to do if you find someone unconscious and not breathing.

Sheffield Hallam University has a number of free initiatives taking place on this day, so you can choose which best suits you, please see below for details. Please can you make sure your Manager is aware of your attendance.

Gift of Life CPR Training for Staff

This one hour course helps staff (not first-aid trained staff) to learn about cardiac arrest and to learn Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), giving them life-saving skills and the confidence to use them. Staff will each have a manikin to practice on and the trainers will ensure staff are performing CPR correctly.  There will be a certificate for each delegate.  Staff will not be classed as a first aider at work, however you will be able to help someone who suffers a cardiac arrest. The course is run by First on Scene with two First Aid Trainers.

If you would like to attend please click on one of the Eventbrite links below to book on the course.
