The University is looking at volunteering as part of the Hallam Deal. Please have a look at the following information if you volunteer already or are interested in volunteering.
As part of the University’s commitment to our role as a Civic University and South Yorkshire Futures social mobility programme, and in support of future phases of the Hallam Deal, we are scoping the feasibility and benefits of a staff volunteering programme. This aligns with activity launched last year to encourage and support staff to become school governors.
As part of this scoping, we want to understand more about the breadth of volunteering that our staff already undertake, including motivations and benefits. We also want to understand what the current barriers to participation may be and what support the University could offer to make volunteering more attractive and accessible. You’re invited to complete this short survey to tell us more on these topics.
This survey is an opportunity for everyone to feed in their thoughts, whether you currently volunteer or not, so we would welcome you to take a few minutes to complete the following survey and contribute to shaping the thinking of this piece of work. The survey will close on Friday 22 February. For more information please email southyorkshirefutures@shu.ac.uk
As well as this, we are holding a series of workshops throughout February where we want to hear from you about what you currently do for the local community, what you think we do well, and how we could do better to support the long-term needs of the region. Further information can be found here.
