We have facilities at both campuses including gyms, sports halls and pitches. Our sport and fitness memberships give you access to the facilities as well as over 70 social sport sessions and fitness classes every week, They offer an extensive range of activities, including boxing and Zumba. There are also over 40 sport clubs to join \u2013 including cricket, badminton, football, tennis and athletics. We even offer free personal training to all our members. Our services are <a href=\"https:\/\/students.shu.ac.uk\/wellbeing\/docs\/Confidentiality%20and%20Information%20Sharing%20September%202014.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">confidential<\/a>, delivered at both campuses and we have male and female advisers from different backgrounds in case you have specific requirements.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re new to the service or coming for the first time this academic year, you\u2019ll need a contact appointment with one of our practitioners as the first step. We\u2019ll give you space to talk briefly about your situation and this may be sufficient in itself. If it becomes apparent that you need further support, we\u2019ll identify what is available within the University or beyond.<\/p>\n<p>There are three specialist strands to the Student Wellbeing Service, which are <a href=\"https:\/\/students.shu.ac.uk\/shuspacecontent\/wellbeing\/counselling\">Counselling<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/students.shu.ac.uk\/shuspacecontent\/wellbeing\/mental-health-support\">Mental Health<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/students.shu.ac.uk\/shuspacecontent\/wellbeing\/does-multifaith-chaplaincy-offer\">Chaplaincy<\/a>. We also offer <a title=\"self-help resources\" href=\"https:\/\/students.shu.ac.uk\/shuspacecontent\/wellbeing\/self-help-resources\">self-help resources<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/students.shu.ac.uk\/wellbeing\/docs\/Ten_Things.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">tips for looking after yourself<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/students.shu.ac.uk\/shuspacecontent\/wellbeing\/student-wellbeing-workshops\" target=\"_self\">workshops<\/a>, 1-1 appointments and <a title=\"e-mail counselling\" href=\"https:\/\/students.shu.ac.uk\/shuspacecontent\/wellbeing\/receive-counselling-campus\" target=\"_self\">e-counselling<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Medical Help and Emergencies<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>If you are ill for more than five days you are advised to seek medical attention. You will require a sick note from the Doctor if you&#8217;re unable to come in to University. There\u00a0is a health centre on campus\u00a0for student use. The Multifaith Centre on level 2 of the Owen Building has a quiet space designated for prayer and meditation, Muslim prayer rooms, and multi-purpose meeting space.<\/p>\n<p>Meditation sessions take place at 1pm, every Wednesday during semester time at the Multifaith Centre on Level 2 of the Owen Building. Sessions led by faith advisors from different religious traditions, but each session is open to all.
