Sheffield Hallam University is proud to be part of the University Alliance Doctoral Training Alliance (DTA), the largest multi-partner and only nationwide doctoral training initiative of its kind, designed in response to industry needs.

We have doctoral students and supervisors in DTA programmes in Applied Biosciences for Health (launched in 2015), Energy (launched in 2016) and Social Policy (be be launched in 2017). More information on the DTA programmes is here:

A new kind of doctoral programme for the 21st Century

As part of the programme, DTA students attend a 2-day Autumn school in their first year and a 3-day Summer school in each of their 3 years to develop key advance qualities (values, community & networking, specialist skills, applied research & enterprise, communication & translation).

Sheffield Hallam University hosted the DTA Energy Summer School 10-12 July 2017 and our DTA Applied Biosciences for Health students went to the University of West of England for their Summer School. You can read the University Alliance blog about both here: http://www.unialliance.ac.uk/blog/2017/07/20/producing-researchers-ready-for-the-real-world/
