{"id":9552,"date":"2020-10-16T12:15:37","date_gmt":"2020-10-16T11:15:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/?p=9552"},"modified":"2020-10-16T12:15:37","modified_gmt":"2020-10-16T11:15:37","slug":"lullabies-transforming-lives-in-zambia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/lullabies-transforming-lives-in-zambia\/","title":{"rendered":"Lullabies transforming lives in Zambia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A project which harnesses the power of song to spread vital healthcare messages among African women has been highlighted in an article in <a href=\"https:\/\/shu.us18.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=03229e2cd78c49d0b6ed57f8a&amp;id=fe74b8d828&amp;e=376ef1ef71\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">the i<\/a>.\u00a0The Life-Saving Lullabies project is led by Sheffield Hallam design expert <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/about-us\/our-people\/staff-profiles\/david-swann\">Professor David Swann<\/a> in collaboration with first-aid charity <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stjohnzambia.org\">St John Zambia<\/a> and Dr James Reid and Professor Barry Doyle from the University of Huddersfield. It works by supporting St John volunteers to create lullabies in their local languages that they then perform to women as part of their outreach work in the community and to those who visit maternity clinics.<\/p>\n<p>The women are part of a network of healthcare experts working under St John Zambia\u2019s government-backed <a href=\"https:\/\/community.rapidpro.io\/stories\/mama-na-mwana-improving-maternal-and-neonatal-health-services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mama na Mwana (Mother and Child) programme<\/a>.
