{"id":8429,"date":"2020-01-02T10:49:11","date_gmt":"2020-01-02T10:49:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/?p=8429"},"modified":"2020-01-10T09:54:45","modified_gmt":"2020-01-10T09:54:45","slug":"design-futures-bailey-clasp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/design-futures-bailey-clasp\/","title":{"rendered":"Design Futures collaborate with Bailey of Sheffield to develop revolutionary quick-release stainless steel bracelet clasp"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"col col1\">\n<p><strong>Industrial designers at Sheffield Hallam University have collaborated with a local jewellery firm to develop a revolutionary new product.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bailey of Sheffield, a firm which engineers stainless steel jewellery at their base in the Portland Works, enlisted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.designfuturesgroup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Design Futures<\/a> to design a unique quick release clasp for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baileyofsheffield.com\/shop\/cable-bracelets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stainless steel bracelet<\/a>, a feature that is not readily available in the jewellery market.<\/p>\n<p>The clasp provides a high level of security and also allows the wearer to take the bracelet on and off with one hand.<\/p>\n<p>The CABLE bracelet clasp was developed by industrial designers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/about-us\/our-people\/staff-profiles\/anthony-jones\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Anthony Jones<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/about-us\/our-people\/staff-profiles\/nick-dulake\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nick Dulake<\/a>, at Design Futures, a commercially focused product and packaging design consultancy group based within Sheffield Hallam University.<\/p>\n<p>Made from marine grade stainless steel, the bracelets are all hand finished at Bailey&#8217;s workshop at Portland Works in Sheffield.<\/p>\n<p>The project is part of an ongoing partnership with the company with Design Futures helping develop bracelet beads with kinetic designs, embedded technologies and functional features.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col col2\">\n<p>Scott Bailey, founder of the company said: &#8220;The output from the Design Futures team has been second to none.
