The call for papers<\/strong> is now out and registration open for the 6th Design4Health conference, which takes place next July in Amsterdam.<\/p>\n

DesignLab at University of Twente,\u00a0Waag | technology & society, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and Lab4Living at Sheffield Hallam University are pleased to invite papers from researchers and practitioners for the sixth European Design4Health conference 2020, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

The conference runs over three days from Wed 1st to Fri 3rd July 2020, with a Doctoral colloquium taking place on Tue 30 June.<\/p>\n

Design4Health was first convened in Sheffield in 2011<\/a> by Lab4Living team Prof Paul Chamberlain, Dr Claire Craig, Prof Alaster Yoxall and Kirsty Christer. This sixth conference will be the first time that the conference has taken place in Europe outside the UK.<\/p>\n

Design4Health conference co-ordinator Kirsty Christer said:<\/p>\n

“We’re really excited that this year’s conference will take place in The Netherlands, an important and lively centre for design in Europe. We’re looking forward to seeing old friends, and to making new ones.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Conference co-chair Sabine Wildevuur (University of Twente) said:<\/p>\n

“Our organising committee will work closely with public and private partners, building on our transdisciplinary research links throughout Europe.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Lab4Living & the Design4Health organising team in Amsterdam earlier this year<\/p><\/div>\n

The future is now!<\/strong> The overall theme for this conference is Designing Future Health<\/strong> and the conference organisers particularly welcome submissions which consider the role of design in the future of health and healthcare.<\/p>\n

Submissions are invited in the form of Abstracts<\/strong> (300 word paper proposals) and Posters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Full details are on the Design4Health2020 website<\/a>, but in brief the themes are:<\/p>\n

  1. Designing the future of health<\/li>\n
  2. Designing citizen science and community-driven care<\/li>\n
  3. Designing for Urban Vitality<\/li>\n
  4. Care model design<\/li>\n
  5. Designing personalized eHealth technology<\/li>\n
  6. Health data design\/digital self<\/li>\n
  7. Sustainable health and wellbeing<\/li>\n
  8. Wildcard: Designing dystopian futures: Why would you do that? Chind\u014dgu<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(<\/em>\u73cd\u9053\u5177<\/em>)\u00a0is a\u00a0prank\u00a0originating from Japan, which is done by a person seemingly inventing ingenious everyday\u00a0gadgets\u00a0that seem like an ideal solution to a particular problem, but are in fact nothing more than a useless gag. How does health respond to the design? Responsibilities and consequences.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    We also welcome papers focussed on\u00a0Methods, Ethics, Evaluation, Education\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Training<\/em>\u00a0that cross-link into one or more of the themes listed above.<\/p>\n

    We also ask when the papers are submitted if the author(s) want to bring in an\u00a0Artefact\u00a0that will be shown at the exhibition.<\/p>\n

    The deadline for submissions is Sunday\u00a01st\u00a0December 2019<\/strong>, 23:59 (CET)<\/p>\n
