Abstract<\/strong>
\nIn this\u00a0seminar,\u00a0Ko-Le will\u00a0showcase some of\u00a0her doctoral research on academic dissemination.\u00a0Ko-Le took a feminist and practice-based approach to studying a HCI workplace and developed a creative methodology that helped produced a series of creative ethnographic accounts,\u00a0which\u00a0she named\u00a0\u2018research fictions\u2019.<\/p>\n

Ko-Le will describe\u00a0her collaborations with colleagues at Open Lab (Newcastle University<\/a>) and discuss the benefits and challenges of taking a creative approach to ethnography.\u00a0Ko-Le will also discuss the potentials of adopting creative ethnography in other contexts such as digital heritage, with an example of a new research idea\u00a0that\u00a0she is\u00a0developing that involves a Taoist goddess and GPS.<\/p>\n

Biography<\/strong>
\nKo-Le\u00a0is\u00a0a videographer\/ethnographer based in Newcastle Upon Tyne.\u00a0Ko-Le grew up in Taiwan and has spent the last 10 years living and working in the UK. With a background in digital media and theatre,\u00a0Ko-Le’s research interests often lead\u00a0her to\u00a0dwell at the intersection of arts, sociology and HCI.\u00a0Ko-Le is\u00a0interested in the ways knowledges are produced and takes a practice-based approach to understanding how people and objects (especially documents) came to be entangled in the process of knowledge production.<\/p>\n
