{"id":7682,"date":"2019-09-12T10:55:05","date_gmt":"2019-09-12T09:55:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/?p=7682"},"modified":"2019-09-26T15:38:59","modified_gmt":"2019-09-26T14:38:59","slug":"inspiration-older-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/inspiration-older-people\/","title":{"rendered":"The 100 year life \u2013 drawing inspiration from older people"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>In this researcher blog post, Claire Craig reflects on the changing model of life stages:<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>In their book, \u2018the 100 year Life\u2019 Gratton and Scott (2016) suggested that the three stage life (birth\/education\/work\/retirement) would be replaced by a multi-stage life characterised by a range of transitions where individuals would engage in education\/retraining\/work\/further education and skills development. In this dynamic model, building intangible assets of skills and knowledge were seen as key.<\/p>\n<p>During our visit to Australia we have been seeking out older people who have been following this multi-stage trajectory to build understanding of factors that have supported these transitions. <strong>Monica Andrew<\/strong> from Canberra is one such individual we have encountered and who will be contributing to our research. After a successful career, Monica completed a Masters degree and following retirement has now embarked on a PhD.
