The Festival, where\u00a0<em>Lift Share\u00a0<\/em>had <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/virginia-heath-lift-share-eiff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">its premiere in June last year<\/a>, has included the film in its Videotheque\u00a0<em>Made in Scotland\u00a0<\/em>Showcase, available in the Videotheque and online for festival delegates. See the full list <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edfilmfest.org.uk\/sites\/edfilmfest.org.uk\/files\/resources\/Made%20in%20Scotland%20Showcase%20200619.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The festival is on now, starting on Wednesday 19 June and runs until Sunday 30 June 2019.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0<em>Lift Share<\/em>, two strangers meet through an online lift share website: a young Romanian woman in desperate search of a child that was forcibly taken from her and a Scottish musician returning to the Isle of Harris to face up to the death of his violent, estranged father. \u00a0As they drive through the Scottish Highlands, the film moves between present and future time frames as each character imagines what they might do when they reach the Outer Hebrides.\u00a0 Alone with their fears, the\u00a0haunting beauty of the remote Islands helps them\u00a0find escape from their past pain. Virginia teaches on Sheffield Hallam\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/courses\/digital-media\/ma-filmmaking\/full-time\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MA in Filmmaking<\/a>. Virginia has written and directed several award winning films and her films are screened at international film festivals including Berlin, Cannes, The Hamptons, New York, Vancouver, St Petersburg. Virginia\u2019s projects include\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mydangerousloverboy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">My Dangerous Loverboy<\/a><\/em>\u00a0(2009)\u00a0 a powerful multi-platform project addressing human-trafficking and sexual-exploitation which formed the basis of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/impact.ref.ac.uk\/CaseStudies\/CaseStudy.aspx?Id=4979\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an outstanding\u00a0Impact Case Study<\/a>\u00a0 for Unit of Assessment 34: Art &amp; Design (History, Theory &amp; Practice) in REF2014, and\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fromscotlandwithlovethefilm.com\/\">From Scotland with Love<\/a><\/em>\u00a0(2014) a feature-length poetic documentary combining archive footage and original music composition which received a BAFTA Scotland nomination.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Professor Virginia Heath\u2018s\u00a0Lift Share\u00a0has been selected for a special showcase at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.
