The festival is hosted in\u00a0order to promote and highlight filmmakers and individuals that have contributed to the global effort of making the world a\u00a0more entertaining and competitive environment for filmmaking. The comfort that only strangers can bring enables them to share a moment of hope for the future.<\/p>\n<p>The film was made with support from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.creativescotland.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Creative Scotland<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/network.bfi.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BFI.NETWORK<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.scottishfilmtalent.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scottish Film Talent Network<\/a>, An Comhairle (Western Isles Council),\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.factionnorth.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Faction North<\/a>, Kolik Films and the Art &amp; Design Research Centre (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/research\/specialisms\/cultural-communication-and-computing-research-institute\/research-centres\/art-and-design-research-centre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ADRC<\/a>) at Sheffield Hallam University.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/about-us\/our-people\/staff-profiles\/virginia-heath\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Professor Virginia Heath<\/a>\u00a0is a Professor of Film in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/research\/specialisms\/cultural-communication-and-computing-research-institute\/research-centres\/art-and-design-research-centre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Art and Design Research Centre<\/a>\u00a0at Sheffield Hallam University, and is a writer, film-maker and researcher. Virginia has written and directed several award winning films and her films are screened at international film festivals including Berlin, Cannes, The Hamptons, New York, Vancouver, St Petersburg. Virginia\u2019s projects include\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mydangerousloverboy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">My Dangerous Loverboy<\/a><\/em>\u00a0(2009)\u00a0 a powerful multi-platform project addressing human-trafficking and sexual-exploitation which formed the basis of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/impact.ref.ac.uk\/CaseStudies\/CaseStudy.aspx?Id=4979\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an outstanding\u00a0Impact Case Study<\/a>\u00a0 for Unit of Assessment 34: Art &amp; Design (History, Theory &amp; Practice) in REF2014, and\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fromscotlandwithlovethefilm.com\/\">From Scotland with Love<\/a><\/em>\u00a0(2014) a feature-length poetic documentary combining archive footage and original music composition which received a BAFTA Scotland nomination.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lift Share, directed by Professor Virginia Heath, has been nominated for Best Drama Short at the Annual Copenhagen Film Festival.
