Lab4Living<\/a>‘s Joe Langley<\/a>, Dan Wolstenholme<\/a> and Rebecca Partridge<\/a> recently ran a workshop at the Sheffield Microsystems Coaching Academy<\/a> Expo demonstrating how some of the creative practices from participatory design might compliment and augment the Microsystems service improvement approach. Their workshop was filled to capacity with 45 delegates from the Expo and included the Godfather of the Microsystems approach; Paul Batalden.<\/p>\n

The MCA Expo 2015<\/a> was held in Sheffield on the 01-02 June 2015. \u00a0It featured national and international guest speakers, stories and case studies from the MCA and beyond and was an opportunity to network and to share and learn more about quality improvement and microsystem coaching.<\/p>\n

\"Lab4Living<\/a><\/p>\n

The workshop ran through some very practical exercises that could easily be applied by people working in interdisciplinary service improvement teams, to enable greater creative potential and to enable ways of refining and advancing ideas before running small tests of change. The two key points that these exercises focused on where:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. generation of novel ideas<\/li>\n
  2. physical prototyping (not PDSA cycles \u2013 we classify PDSA cycles as small experiments)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Examples from real projects that we have run were used to illustrate the impact and benefit of applying these exercises and ways of working. The feedback was very positive.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
