Barham\u2019s structure, based on the fundamental geometric form of naturally growing crystals, operates as a cabinet of curiosities, housing artworks by 23 other artists. The works examine and observe a liquid crystal phenomena and reveal the mystical properties of objects. Liquid Crystal Display follows several years of research, and is co-curated by MIMA Director Laura Sillars with Angelica Sule from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sitegallery.org\/\">Site Gallery<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Supported by\u00a0<u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.henry-moore.org\/\">Henry Moore Foundation<\/a><\/u>\u00a0and\u00a0<u><a href=\"https:\/\/lux.org.uk\/\">LUX<\/a><\/u><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/about-us\/our-people\/staff-profiles\/lise-autogena\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Professor Lise Autogena<\/a>\u00a0is an artist and a Professor of Cross-Disciplinary Art at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/research\/specialisms\/cultural-communication-and-computing-research-institute\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cultural Communication and Computing Research Institute<\/a>\u00a0at Sheffield Hallam University. Ships horns from an armada of vessels off-shore, seventy five brass players on-shore and the Souter Lighthouse Foghorn performed a Foghorn Requiem, an ambitious musical performance to mark the disappearance of the sound of the foghorn from the UK's coastal landscape. Conducted and controlled from a distance, ships at sea sounded their horns to a musical score, that will took into account landscape and the physical distance of sound. The performance took place by Souter Light House by South Shields, UK with thousands of spectators and more than 50 ships off-shore.
