{"id":6061,"date":"2018-04-27T17:47:44","date_gmt":"2018-04-27T16:47:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/?p=6061"},"modified":"2019-02-11T11:16:03","modified_gmt":"2019-02-11T11:16:03","slug":"phelan-vr-burns-pain-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/phelan-vr-burns-pain-3\/","title":{"rendered":"C3RI VR Research is helping burns patients cope with pain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>C3RI research into the application of VR games to help burns patients cope with pain has been trialled with patients in Sheffield.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/about-us\/our-people\/staff-profiles\/ivan-phelan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ivan Phelan<\/a> and his team have designed a game which will test whether the use of virtual reality headsets can help patients cope with painful medical procedures.<\/p>\n<p>Patients were given a VR game to play while they had their dressings changed.
