To date, information gathering, dialogue\u00a0activities, working groups and consultations\u00a0have gone towards revising and\u00a0refining the policy framework for \u201cmanaging higher activity waste in the long\u00a0term through geological disposal\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2016 the Nuclear Futures programme has gathered academics\u00a0from a variety of social and technical sciences alongside participants from\u00a0nuclear industry,\u00a0 consultancy,\u00a0government and independent parties. The project&#8217;s\u00a0final seminar will consider what needs to be remembered from the past and explore the\u00a0immediate and medium term next-steps in radioactive waste\u00a0management &amp;\u00a0disposal, as the UK GDF siting process prepares to launch.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting will include\u00a0talks, round table discussions, film screening and other audio-visual materials\u00a0as resources to structure debate and generate plans. Participants will gather\u00a0from Belgium, Finland and the UK.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/about-us\/our-people\/staff-profiles\/lise-autogena\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lise Autogena<\/a>\u00a0is a Professor of Cross Disciplinary Art at Sheffield Hallam University\u2019s Cultural, Communication and Computing Research Institute.
