{"id":4963,"date":"2018-05-21T12:00:05","date_gmt":"2018-05-21T11:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/?p=4963"},"modified":"2018-07-26T12:01:25","modified_gmt":"2018-07-26T11:01:25","slug":"sharon-kivland-inspirational-research-supervisor-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/sharon-kivland-inspirational-research-supervisor-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr Sharon Kivland wins 2018 Inspirational Research Supervisor Award at Sheffield Hallam University"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reader in Fine Art\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/about-us\/our-people\/staff-profiles\/sharon-kivland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sharon Kivland<\/a>\u00a0was this week recognised for excellent contribution to a commitment to secure success through exceptional research supervision, in being listed amongst the recipients of the Inspirational Research Supervisor Award Winners 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Of 122 nominations of research supervisors students had selected based on their capacity to inspire and provide exceptional support, five\u00a0Inspirational Research Supervisor Awards were made.<\/p>\n<p>Vice-Chancellor\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/about-us\/our-people\/university-leadership-team\/professor-chris-husbands\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Professor Chris Husbands<\/a>\u00a0announced the winners and said this:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>All universities exist, more than anything else, for their students.\u00a0 The hard work of a university is the consistent effort, day-in, day-out to secure student success through exceptional teaching and student support.\u00a0\u00a0 Sheffield Hallam has understood this for some time, and the teaching, student support and research supervision awards have now run successfully for eight years, becoming a highlight of the University calendar and a part of the fabric of the institution.\u00a0 The pictures in the main University entrance remind students, staff and visitors alike of our commitment to, and our success in, teaching and student support.\u00a0 It is an enormous pleasure to be able to publish the names of this year\u2019s award winners.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d like to congratulate all the nominees, all the award winners and all the staff who were successfully nominated for a University award.\u00a0 I think this is a fantastic scheme and I\u2019m full of admiration for all the nominees.\u00a0 It\u2019s a tribute to the University that we have so many students who identify so many staff as being inspiring, transformational and supportive.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/about-us\/our-people\/staff-profiles\/sharon-kivland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr Sharon Kivland<\/a>\u00a0is a Reader in Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University.\u00a0Find out more about Sharon Kivland\u2019s books and other works\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sharonkivland.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reader in Fine Art\u00a0Sharon Kivland\u00a0was this week recognised for excellent contribution to a commitment to secure success through exceptional research supervision, in being listed amongst the recipients of the Inspirational Research Supervisor Award Winners 2018.
