{"id":3301,"date":"2016-09-28T12:00:03","date_gmt":"2016-09-28T11:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/?p=3301"},"modified":"2018-07-26T12:24:17","modified_gmt":"2018-07-26T11:24:17","slug":"david-swann-abc-syringe-tour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/david-swann-abc-syringe-tour\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr David Swann&#8217;s ABC syringe to feature in BodyWorks on Tour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/about-us\/our-people\/staff-profiles\/david-swann\" target=\"_blank\">Dr David Swann<\/a>&#8216;s invention <em>ABC Syringe<\/em> (A Behaviour Changing Syringe) is to feature in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowsciencecentre.org\/learn\/bodyworks-tour\/bodyworks-education\/careering-science\" target=\"_blank\">Careering into Science<\/a> interactive science show, part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowsciencecentre.org\/on-tour\" target=\"_blank\">BodyWorks on Tour<\/a> Programme engaging school audiences across Scotland. The interactive show includes a segment on chemistry skills and tells the story of the ABC Syringe and how colour-changing technology can help save lives. The ABC Syringe changes colour in order to deter harmful re-use when the syringe is no longer sterile. The Syringe was the winner of the 2014 <a href=\"http:\/\/wdo.org\/programmes\/wdip\/\" target=\"_blank\">World Design Impact Prize<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bodyworks on Tour is an initiative of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowsciencecentre.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Glasgow Science Centre<\/a> to raise awareness of the science underpinning health and wellbeing.
