The exhibition features the work of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/about-us\/our-people\/staff-profiles\/rose-butler\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rose Butler<\/a> (senior lecturer of Fine Art at SHU) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.victorialucas.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Victoria Lucas<\/a> (PhD researcher at SHU).<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Formation<\/em><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.andfestival.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Abandon Normal Devices<\/em> Festival<\/a><br \/>\nCastleton Garage Forecourt S33 8WP<br \/>\n21 September 2017 &#8211; 24 September 2017<\/strong><br \/>\nFor opening times, please see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.andfestival.org.uk\/events\/formation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<br \/>\nFree to attend, no booking required.<\/p>\n<p>Taking place in a transformed decommissioned petrol station, Rose and Victoria&#8217;s work will be alongside other Sheffield-based artists <a href=\"http:\/\/ruthlevene.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ruth Levene<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iannesbitt.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ian Nesbitt<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Beginning with the themes of mineral and material, Formation challenges geological, technical and socio-political conditions, investigating the implications of industrial mining and extraction processes, rare earth minerals, and their connection to global supply chains. Across undulating and unfolding strata, earthly matter will be weaved into narratives from the deep.&#8221;<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.andfestival.org.uk\/events\/formation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Abandon Normal Devices<\/em><\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>Formation<\/em> is part of <a href=\"http:\/\/sheffieldcityofmakers.co.uk\/category\/making-ways\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Making Ways<\/a>, a new programme supported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sheffieldculture.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sheffield Culture Consortium<\/a> through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artscouncil.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arts Council England<\/a> to showcase, celebrate and develop the exceptional contemporary visual art produced in the city.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.andfestival.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Abandon Normal Devices<\/em> Festival<\/a> is hosted by Peak District National Park and National Trust (Peak District). Supported using public funding by Arts Council England with additional support from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bfi.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BFI<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britishcouncil.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">British Council<\/a> and Sheffield programme partners <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sitegallery.org\/abandon-normal-devices-festival-formation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Site Gallery<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/about-us\/our-people\/staff-profiles\/rose-butler\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rose Butler<\/a> is an artist, researcher and senior lecturer of Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University working with video, photography, sound, animation and installation.
