{"id":1788,"date":"2017-05-15T12:31:29","date_gmt":"2017-05-15T11:31:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/?p=1788"},"modified":"2018-07-26T12:19:56","modified_gmt":"2018-07-26T11:19:56","slug":"exhibition-hu-leping-sia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/exhibition-hu-leping-sia\/","title":{"rendered":"Hu Leping &#8211; Chinese Arts and Calligraphy exhibition opens at SIA on 24 May 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An exhibition of the works of celebrated Chinese painter and calligrapher Hu Leping opens Wednesday 24 May at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www4.shu.ac.uk\/sia\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sheffield Institute of Arts<\/a>, featuring a live painting during the opening event, which will be auctioned with proceeds donated to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stlukeshospice.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">St. Luke&#8217;s Hospice<\/a>. At the closing evening, Hu will be giving an artist&#8217;s lecture.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Beijing in 1955, Hu studied under celebrated artist Mr Wangren. Working in the tradition of Chinese painting, Hu has gained critical acclaim throughout China &#8211; his work has been widely exhibited in China, is collected internationally and has been presented as gifts to foreign leaders by the Chinese government.
