{"id":1576,"date":"2014-01-22T12:00:42","date_gmt":"2014-01-22T12:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/?p=1576"},"modified":"2018-07-26T11:47:02","modified_gmt":"2018-07-26T10:47:02","slug":"paul-atkinson-design-journal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/paul-atkinson-design-journal\/","title":{"rendered":"The Design Journal moves to Sheffield Hallam University as Paul Atkinson becomes editor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After 16 years as editor of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/research\/specialisms\/cultural-communication-and-computing-research-institute\/what-we-do\/projects\/design\/the-design-journal\" target=\"_blank\">The Design Journal<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/lica\/about-us\/people\/rachel-cooper2\" target=\"_blank\">Professor Rachel Cooper<\/a> has handed the baton over to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/about-us\/our-people\/staff-profiles\/paul-atkinson\" target=\"_blank\">Professor Paul Atkinson<\/a>, Professor of Design and Design History at the Art and Design Research Centre.<\/p>\n<p>Rachel has edited the Journal since its inception in 1997, nurturing it into an internationally respected depository of design knowledge and debate. Professor Paul Atkinson, previously the Journal&#8217;s Associate Editor has now taken on the role of Editor.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;It will be a huge challenge to maintain her momentum, but one to which I look forward with great enthusiasm.&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Professor Paul Atkinson<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Louise Valentine, from the University of Dundee, is the new Associate Editor and Kirsty Christer, also from the Art &amp; Design Research Centre at Sheffield Hallam University, takes over as Editorial Assistant.<\/p>\n<p>The Journal&#8217;s original publisher, Berg, has now been taken over by internationally renowned publisher Bloomsbury.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We hope Bloomsbury will help to expand the journal&#8217;s reach significantly, and the introduction of an online submission system means we can streamline the processing of papers through to publication.&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>Professor Paul Atkinson<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After 16 years as editor of The Design Journal, Professor Rachel Cooper has handed the baton over to Professor Paul Atkinson, Professor of Design and Design History at the Art and Design Research Centre.
