This week sees the release of a special edition of the peer reviewed online journal REVENANT, edited and curated by members of SHU\u2019s Centre for Contemporary Legend Research Group, Dr. David Clarke<\/a>, Dr Sophie Parkes-Nield<\/a>, Andrew Robinson<\/a> and Dr Diane Rodgers<\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
REVENANT is a highly regarded peer reviewed, online journal committed to the scholarly,\u00a0academic\u00a0and creative exploration of the supernatural, the uncanny and the weird in any form, led by Ruth Heholt at based at Falmouth University.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
The special CCL issue begins with a detailed and informative\u00a0<\/span>introduction\u00a0<\/span><\/a>to Contemporary Legend study by the editorial team.\u00a0In preparing this overview\u00a0Andrew and Sophie worked closely with Professor Paul Smith, renowned\u00a0folklorist\u00a0and Professor Emeritus at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, who helped\u00a0establish\u00a0Contemporary Legend as an academic discipline in the 1980s, organising the first ever international conference on\u00a0the subject\u00a0at Sheffield University in 1982.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Alongside contributions by CCL researchers\u00a0Andrew and Sophie have curated a selection of papers and articles from leading international academics in the study of Folklore and Contemporary Legend\u00a0covering subjects as diverse as\u00a0<\/span>Taiwanese folklore<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>NETFLIX\u00a0<\/span><\/a>including papers by Jeanmarie Rouhier-Willoughby (University of Kentucky) on Contemporary Legend In\u00a0the YouTube documentary series\u00a0<\/span>Hellier\u00a0<\/span><\/a>and\u00a0Daniel P.\u00a0Compora\u00a0(University of Toledo)\u00a0on\u00a0<\/span>Michigan\u2019s Monsters<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
