We are thrilled to announce that Molly Aitken, current SHU PhD student in Creative Writing, has won the prestigious Alice Hoffman Prize For Fiction<\/a>\u00a02024\u00a0for her story ‘Thresholds’, published in the 2023 Spring edition of Ploughshares.<\/p>\n

Molly’s second novel, Bright I Burn<\/em>\u00a0is out on June 6th, 2024, and is available for pre-order here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Molly Aitken’s short fiction has appeared in Ploughshares<\/em>\u00a0and Banshee<\/em>, and has been dramatised for BBC Radio 4.\u00a0Her debut novel, The Island Child<\/em>,\u00a0was longlisted for the Authors\u2019 Club Best First Novel Award. Her second novel, Bright I Burn<\/em>\u00a0is out June 6th<\/sup>\u00a0from Canongate in the UK, and October 9th<\/sup>\u00a0from\u00a0Knopf in the USA.<\/p>\n
