{"id":13027,"date":"2024-04-12T12:20:24","date_gmt":"2024-04-12T11:20:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/?p=13027"},"modified":"2024-04-12T12:21:27","modified_gmt":"2024-04-12T11:21:27","slug":"new-exhibition-by-yuen-fong-ling-at-graves-gallery-launching-april-17-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/new-exhibition-by-yuen-fong-ling-at-graves-gallery-launching-april-17-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"New exhibition by Yuen Fong Ling at Graves Gallery launching 17 April 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>We are the Monument,\u00a0<\/i>a new exhibition by Yuen Fong Ling, presents his work\u00a0<i>Monumentalise\u00a0<\/i>(2023) alongside collection highlights to explore the complex power of the plinth at <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/files\/2024\/04\/Invitation-to-launch-of-Graves-Gallery-new-exhibitions-and-collection-displays-Wed-17-April-6-8pm.pdf\">Graves Gallery<\/a>. <i>LAND: Photographs by Matthew Conduit\u00a0<\/i>sees a series of images of post-industrial landscapes by the Sheffield-based artist go on display for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>New additions to the collection displays include work by Emma Bolland, Prunella Clough, Mark Firth, Manish Harijan, Richard Long, Keith Piper and Gary Simmonds. You\u2019ll also see a recent acquisition,\u00a0<i>Samarra\u00a0<\/i>(1984) by Bridget Riley, which joins Sheffield\u2019s collection through the Arts Council England Acceptance in Lieu scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, a new display of prints drawn from a remarkable collection developed by a Sheffield father and son brings together work by Jacques Callot, Francisco Goya, Edouard Manet, Odilon Redon, Rembrandt and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.<\/p>\n<p>The new collection displays are generously supported by the Ampersand Foundation as part of a five-year programme of change.<\/p>\n<p><i>Monumentalise\u00a0<\/i>is part of the UAL Decolonising Arts Institute 20\/20 project, bringing together 20 artists of colour and 20 UK public art collections leading to 20 new acquisitions, with funding from Freelands Foundation, Arts Council England and UAL.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday 17 April, 6-8pm<br \/>\n<\/b>Graves Gallery: Above the Central Library, Surrey Street, S1 1XZ<\/p>\n<p><b>Please RVSP to:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:rsvp@sheffieldmuseums.org.uk\" data-linkindex=\"1\">rsvp@sheffieldmuseums.org.uk<\/a><br \/>\n<\/b><i>You are welcome to bring up to four guests, please give their names in your RSVP.<\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are the Monument,\u00a0a new exhibition by Yuen Fong Ling, presents his work\u00a0Monumentalise\u00a0(2023) alongside collection highlights to explore the complex power of the plinth at Graves Gallery.
