We have experienced a global pandemic, been confronted by economic uncertainty, witnessed climate change&#8217;s devastating impact, and continue to experience societal inequality. Advances in AI and other technologies promise new opportunities while raising ethical challenges.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\"><em>Permacrisis<\/em>\u00a0is a term used to describe an extended period of instability and insecurity. History has shown that new ways of thinking can be borne at times of overwhelming change and crisis.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><em>How can how design research and creative practice enable us to envision alternative futures as we consider a new equilibrium?<\/em><\/blockquote>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>At Design4Health 2024, we welcome contributions of research that explore any aspect of design and creative practice in the context of health and healthcare, including:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\r\n<li>Redressing power imbalances<\/li>\r\n<li>Responding to planetary health\u00a0and our relationships with the planet<\/li>\r\n<li>Exploring future design pedagogies<\/li>\r\n<li>Debating the role of new technologies in health<\/li>\r\n<li>Addressing ethical questions relating to the field<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>More details about this year&#8217;s themes are in the <a href=\"https:\/\/lab4living.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/D4H24-CfP.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Call for Papers<\/a>. This year, we invite the following submissions types:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Paper submissions for oral presentation<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>We invite you to submit an extended abstract (1200 words) with up to 6 figures. Alternatively, you may submit a 2 minute video abstract.
