{"id":12439,"date":"2023-09-11T09:59:14","date_gmt":"2023-09-11T08:59:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/?p=12439"},"modified":"2023-10-09T10:32:54","modified_gmt":"2023-10-09T09:32:54","slug":"atherton-errant-vibrations-underground-research-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/c3riimpact\/atherton-errant-vibrations-underground-research-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Michelle Atherton presents &#8216;Errant Vibrations with the Underground&#8217; research at Bath Spa University symposium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Michelle Atherton was invited to present her research \u2018<em>Errant Vibrations with the Underground<\/em>\u2019 at <a href=\"https:\/\/vasw.org.uk\/whats-on\/fiction-machines-iv-3\">Fiction Machine IV Symposium<\/a> at Bath Spa University considering methods of fiction and personification within art practice to engage with, and give voice to, more than human lifeforms and materials.<\/p>\n<p>Michelle\u2019s exploratory paper was based on her new practice-based art project <em>Ecstatic Rot and the Soil S\u00e9ance Sessions<\/em>. She takes an autobiographical or autoethnographic approach, in an essay exploring listening to soil and what that might offer our relationship to the ground, death and transience. Going on to advocate for methods of sonic intimacy, intermittent attention spans and sensory processes.
