\nTitle: Internet-of-Things (IoT) \u2013 how to get involved?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alexander N. Kalashnikov<\/a> graduated from Odessa State Polytechnic University (OSPU, Odessa, USSR). He received his PhD degree from the Odessa State Telecommunications Academy, and DSc degree from the OSPU. He is a senior member of IEEE since 2008. Alexander worked at OSPU as engineer, junior researcher, PhD student, researcher, lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor. In 1999 he relocated to the UK, and worked as research associate at Loughborough University. In 2001 he joined Nottingham university as a lecturer in electronic architectures and embedded computing, and became a senior lecturer in 2012. He became a senior lecturer in embedded systems at Sheffield Hallam university in September 2015. He is interested in the Internet-of-Things (IoT) and one of his projects is reported on here. <\/p>\n

IoT has recently received a fair share of interest from general public and the media. There is no shortage of speculations on how many devices will form the IoT in the near or not so near future. However the promised ubiquity of IoT devices seems not to materialise as of yet.<\/p>\n

The presentation will discuss Dr Kalashnikov’s experiences with competed one funded and five student projects; discuss development options at the node level and existing opportunities for cooperative developments. <\/p>\n
