Modelling the Future Rights of Nature in South Yorkshire<\/em> – Festival of Debate 2023<\/a><\/strong>

In partnership with Sheffield Hallam University & The River D\u00f4n Project<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

Join us for a panel event and open space discussion exploring how our relationships with critical commons such as waterways, green spaces and trees need to change as we collectively respond to the challenges of climate breakdown and transition. This event will be led by provocations from thought leaders, community organisers and academics working in related fields and exploring questions of other than-human citizenship, and the role of arts and culture in shifting our relationship with the natural world.<\/p>\n

The River D\u00f4n Project<\/a>, is currently hosting six workshops at the\u00a0Festival of Debate<\/a>. \"River<\/a><\/p>\n

We are aiming to spark a public conversation around the rights of nature discourse. We will be creating a space to host emerging multidisciplinary conversations and learnings, with experiential sense-making and knowledge-making workshops to build pathways for rethinking and practising frameworks beyond property rights and the modelling of future rights of nature in South Yorkshire.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2015 by\u00a0Opus Independents<\/a>, the Festival of Debate<\/a> creates opportunities to bring people together to share new ideas and lived experience that can help shape our understanding of the world.<\/p>\n

The Festival collaborates with a huge range of partner organisations – some local, some international. They include grassroots campaign groups, voluntary and community groups, universities and think tanks.<\/p>\n

The Festival of Debate programme is a reflection of these communities in South Yorkshire and broader movements for social change. The festival is strictly non-partisan \u2013 it\u2019s an open platform that encourages active citizenship and democratic engagement that anyone can contribute to. Events are not just debates between people with opposing views; the programme includes discussions, Q&As, artistic responses, keynote speeches, performances and plays that explore politics, economics and society.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
