Title: Building on Blockly \u2013 experience with Google’s Visual Programming language
\nSpeaker: Andy Stratton<\/a> (Computing, SHU)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Blockly<\/a> is a block based programming language that offers unique benefits for research in many different areas. Though Blockly appears to offer a Scratch like approach, Blockly does not include its own language, but can be used to generate executable code in many different languages \u2013 Python, PHP, Javascript and Dart are included \u2018out of the box\u2019. Other languages can be added, even XML, JSON, etc. This talk will show experience using Blockly as a Cultural Heritage (Museum\/Exhibition) Domain Specific Visual language, in particular focused on event based programming for non programmers (curators\/exhibition professionals).<\/p>\n
