Remembering the forgotten Black victims of the Holocaust is the aim of two new memorials initiated by Professor of Imperial History, Robbie Aitken<\/a>. He applied to lay the new memorials to bring new visibility to Germany\u2019s Black history, following his extensive research into the history of Germany\u2019s Black community and compensation claims by Black Holocaust victims. The memorials were recently laid at a special ceremony in Berlin. The news has been covered by German news outlets DW<\/a>, ND<\/a>\u00a0and Taz<\/a>. Professor Robbie Aitken<\/a> is Professor of Imperial History and member of the Humanities Research Centre (HRC) at the Culture & Creativity Research Institute (Sheffield Hallam University). Robbie is an historian of Black Europe and of Empire and has written widely on the development of a Black community in Germany. Robbie’s current research focus is on the Black experience of Nazi Germany and Black compensation claims made in the aftermath of the Holocaust.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
