Be sure to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/south-korean-womens-cinema-conference-registration-169509743205\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">register on Eventbrite<\/a> for details of how to join the conference.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The <strong>South Korean Women&#8217;s Cinema (SKWC) conference<\/strong> will take place online, from Thursday 23 September to Saturday 25 September 2021, hosted online by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/about-us\/our-people\/staff-profiles\/chi-yun-shin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dr Chi-Yun Shin<\/a> of Sheffield Hallam University and funded by <a href=\"http:\/\/intl.aks.ac.kr\/english\/index.do\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Academy of Korean Studies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While the profile and popularity of Korean cinema abroad has peaked with the success of <em>Parasite<\/em> at the 92nd Academy Awards in 2020, women\u2019s cinema and women filmmakers\u2019 wide-ranging contribution to Korean cinema have been consistently overlooked by film audiences and academics alike. As the first major English-language conference focused solely on Korean women&#8217;s cinema, the SKWC conference aims to celebrate all things women in Korean cinema.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to talks and discussions (topics ranging from the Kaidu Club to recent independent films such as <em>House of Hummingbird<\/em> and <em>Lucky Chansil<\/em>), the conference programme includes film screenings and a workshop event on Teaching Korean Women&#8217;s Cinema overseas. We\u2019re also super excited to announce that filmmakers Kangyu Garam \uac15\uc720\uac00\ub78c, Lee Kyung-mi \uc774\uacbd\ubbf8 and Yim Soon-rye \uc784\uc21c\ub840 will be attending the conference.
