Dannie Harris as Mae West.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>Variety Exclusive:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2021\/film\/festivals\/inside-out-finance-forum-1234972157\/\">Inside Out Reveals Finance Forum Projects and Exec Participants.<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shu.ac.uk\/about-us\/our-people\/staff-profiles\/virginia-heath\">Professor Virginia Heath\u2019s<\/a> hybrid documentary Mae West &#8211; Boxer In A Corset announced as one of the selected projects.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">May 18th, 2021:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/inside-out\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"1\">Inside Out<\/a>, Canada\u2019s largest 2SLGBTQ+ film festival and single largest promoter and distributor of 2SLGBTQ+ content in Canada, has announced eight new feature film projects that will participate in the festival\u2019s fifth annual Finance Forum during the festival\u2019s 31st year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_block-editor-rich-texteditable\">Projects include the Faction North \/ Ten Thousand &amp; 86 feature documentary project, MAE WEST: BOXER IN A CORSET (U.K.) &#8211; Director: Virginia Heath, Producers: Grant Keir, Nick Varley<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_block-editor-rich-texteditable\">Logline: A bold hybrid documentary that reveals Hollywood comedy star Mae West\u2019s personal empathy with Queer and African American cultures in 1920s America, and celebrates why her controversial, ground-breaking work as a playwright, inspires artists and audiences today. The Project is supported in development by Screen Scotland, Getty Images, Sheffield Hallam University and the Graduate Centre, City University of New York (CUNY) and Autlook FilmSales.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_block-editor-rich-texteditable\">The Finance Forum, taking place online from May 31- June 4, during the festival (running May 27- June 6), will provide 2SLGBTQ+-identified producers and\/or producers creating 2SLGBTQ+ content an opportunity to pitch their projects directly to top decision makers. All participating executives will be taking one-on-one meetings online with the creative teams.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_block-editor-rich-texteditable\">Among those taking part are executives from the U.S.\u2019s Neon, Bleecker Street, Killer Films, Cinetic Media, The Film Collaborative, Verve, Powderkeg Media, Little Punk, Symbolic Exchange, Chicago Media Angels, and GLAAD; the U.K.\u2019s Protagonist Pictures and Bankside Films; France\u2019s MK2 Films; Germany\u2019s Films Boutique; and Canada\u2019s CBC Films and WaZabi Films.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Copyright Faction North 2021.
