This week is Mencap\u2019s Learning Disability Week<\/strong><\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n

The 2021 theme is Art and Creativity, a theme which clearly reflects the well-established and ongoing collaborative endeavours seen in Hallam’s Department of\u00a0Nursing and Midwifery.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the last 15 years, staff and students from the BSc Nursing (Learning Disabilities) and Social Work<\/a> course have worked in partnership with a group of adults who have a learning disability and\/or autism. The \u2018Partners in Learning\u2019 group is made up of seven experts by their own experiences. Group members work collaboratively and creatively with staff to plan and facilitate students\u2019 learning. A creative example of Partners in Learning\u2019s work is their \u2018A-Z of Learning Disabilities\u2019 poster campaign which you can see displayed in the caf\u00e9 area of the Robert Winston Building (Collegiate Campus).\u00a0<\/span>Here, you will also find artwork created by experts, staff and students from the College of Health,\u00a0Wellbeing and Life Sciences. <\/span><\/p>\n
