The 2021 Sheffield Hallam University Teaching and Learning Conference will be held online on the\u00a0<\/span>13 and 14 September 2021<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 please save the date!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This year has pushed the boundaries of our teaching and learning practices. The Transforming Learning Conference provides an exciting opportunity for colleagues to share their innovative T&L practices and showcase student-staff collaborations, disseminate research and evaluation findings, and celebrate our Inspirational Teacher and Outstanding Student Support and Academic Adviser Colleagues. The conference is shaped around the four Hallam Model principles, and will reflect on our diversity and inclusivity, identifying changes we can make for the forthcoming year and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n

From\u00a012<\/b>th<\/b>\u00a0July onwards<\/b>\u00a0Library Services colleagues will be running micro workshops highlighting resources to enhance your learning, teaching and research, including real life best practice examples and case studies. We will spotlight resources like Digimap, Dimensions, HeinOnline, unpick the complexities of ebooks and etextbooks and ways to support decolonising the curriculum. Further details will follow in Academic Essentials, or you can contact\u00a0Jo Webb\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0Julia King\u00a0<\/a>in the Library Services, especially if you have some case studies or best practice to share.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Mediation<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Mediation is an informal and voluntary approach to conflict resolution and mending workplace relationships, encouraging the early resolution of issues and improving ongoing communication between parties.\u00a0 This is a voluntary role, and staff who sign up to the scheme must be willing to become a SHU mediator, be able to commit to the set course dates and have line manager endorsement.<\/span><\/p>\n
You are asked to complete an Expression of Interest form outlining their reasons for applying. The training course will take place over four morning sessions in July, 9:15am \u2013 12:30pm:<\/span><\/h5>\n

Calling all STEM researchers<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

January 2022<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the\u00a0<\/span>Association for Science Education\u2019s annual conference<\/a>\u00a0for teachers is coming to Sheffield Hallam! We are hosting this four-day international conference, which brings together hundreds of science teachers, school leaders, researchers and stakeholders.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A series of Frontier Science lectures allows the host HEI to showcase its research in the STEM subjects, providing opportunities for science teachers to update, deepen and\/or extend their science subject knowledge.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are now seeking volunteers from across SHU to present their research in a Frontier Science lecture. Examples of potential areas of interest include (but are not limited to): energy and climate change, forensics, sports science, psychology and behavioural science, food engineering, materials, digital technologies, robotics and AI, health and wellbeing, languages, special educational needs and disabilities, and of course anything relating to children. And of course, in 2022, much research related to Covid-19 will be of particular interest.<\/span><\/p>\n

To nominate yourself, a team or a colleague to present a Frontier Science session, please complete the\u00a0<\/span>online form.<\/a>\u00a0We will come back to you in the coming weeks to confirm your participation and\/or to request for further information if needed.
