If you are interested in taking part in future courses or events, please email shucpd@shu.ac.uk.<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><b>Course 1 Face to Face (f2f)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Suitable if you are really struggling and would value ring-fenced, face-to-face time and space as part of a small group. If you are interested in similar future events, please email shucpd@shu.ac.uk.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Course 2 <\/b><b>\u00a0Flexible online<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Suitable If you feel you\u2019re <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">coping <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">with technology, but it\u2019s not an enjoyable experience. You will have guided space and time to suit you, but as a part of a learning community. It\u2019s right for you if you:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">have low confidence in technology, experiences don\u2019t feel easy and you&#8217;d like a more positive relationship with and attitude to technology.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">describe technology as overwhelming<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">feel reluctant to try new things and confused by options<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">want to move beyond your comfort zone, but find it hard to make headway<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">believe a lighter touch, facilitated online approach will work for you<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Participants need to commit to spend <\/span><b>2 hours per week<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> over four weeks engaging with this online course and fellow online participants. <\/span><b>From w\/c 25th February 2019 to w\/e 22nd March 2019. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There will be additional optional drop-in sessions arranged during the course.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Booking for this course is now closed. If you are interested in similar future events, please email shucpd@shu.ac.uk.<\/p>\n<h3><b>What to expect<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While each course takes a slightly different approach &#8211; (gradual scaffolding of technology in the face to face version, and more self-driven discovery in the online version) the topics for each week are the same, &#8211; they support the development of effective habits and constructive approaches; and take the participant through a cycle of personal reflection, using strategy, building resilience,\u00a0 and exploration build resilience and confidence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Week 1 &#8211; Reflection into Strategy<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The first week comprises activities and discussion designed to allow reflection on the role of technology in our lives, to understand our feelings and responses to it, and to challenge some of the beliefs and assumptions we hold. Participants will begin to consider simple strategies for building a more positive relationship with technology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Week 2 &#8211; Strategy into Resilience<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This week looks in more depth at strategies, in particular for problem solving and for keeping up with technology. We\u2019ll find personal meaning in the fast evolving concepts, relate them to aspects of our lives, and examine their impact on our behaviours and skill-sets. There will also be focus on personal agency, decision making and mental health. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Week 3 &#8211; Resilience into Exploration<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This week we\u2019ll explore the not-so-distant future of technology and its impact on society, education, health and industry.
