{"id":6359,"date":"2019-02-04T16:20:18","date_gmt":"2019-02-04T16:20:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/lead\/?p=6359"},"modified":"2019-03-01T11:16:00","modified_gmt":"2019-03-01T11:16:00","slug":"digitalconfidence-cpd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/add\/2019\/02\/04\/digitalconfidence-cpd\/","title":{"rendered":"Do you want to develop your digital confidence?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Is this you?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">..You think you have a harder time with technology than those around you ..you feel overwhelmed by the digital world, unable to catch or keep up with the pace of change ..you only ever venture to try new things or tools when there&#8217;s absolutely no choice\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">..and you know that you need to move beyond your comfort zone, but have no idea where, or how to begin.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Many of us, no matter our role, can identify with the above in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">some <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">small way, but for some it is a huge barrier that can\u2019t be fixed by looking online, having a single conversation or ringing a helpdesk. If you think this is you, the following development opportunities may be of interest.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">From the end of February and through March 2019, we\u2019re running two courses, &#8211; one online, and one face to face &#8211; both designed to actively support those most in need of building positive relationships with technology. The courses use discussion and activities to encourage <\/span><b>reflection <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">on your experiences, beliefs and attitudes; you\u2019ll learn <\/span><b>strategies <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">that will help build your personal <\/span><b>resilience and confidence,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and you will\u00a0<\/span><b>explore <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and <\/span><b>experience <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">technology in ways that are meaningful to you. You\u2019ll design and complete your own project (non-assessed) that is relevant to you (this could be anything from &#8211; understanding how to store and manage your files; exploring a new tool; interacting with University systems, or navigating between different windows on your machine &#8211; <em>anything<\/em> that you may have struggled with).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">By participating in either of these courses you will be able to tackle digital challenges in constructive ways that help to build your confidence, and give you a good foundation for further development.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The courses are<\/span><b> open to all<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Hallam Staff.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Course 1: Face to Face (f2f)<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Suitable if you are really struggling and would value ring-fenced, face-to-face time and space as part of a small group.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b><i>You would need to attend all four weekly sessions of this course<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, taking place on Wednesday afternoons at City Campus from 1.30 &#8211; 4.30pm. 27th February &#8211; 20th March<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<h3><b><i>Course 2 <\/i><\/b><b><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/b><b>Flexible online<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Suitable if you feel you\u2019re <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">coping <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">with technology, but it\u2019s not an enjoyable experience.
