Peer-led learning is the practice of training students to support other students. It has proven benefits to all involved but does not come without investment, mainly in the form of time.<\/p>\n
Student retention, confidence and sense of community\/belonging are all major issues. Peer-led learning is not a silver-bullet that will solve these problems but is proven to have a positive impact in all these areas as well benefiting all those involved.<\/p>\n
Participants will learn about the benefits of training students to support other students, what methods\/models have been used in other areas and what support is available to them to introduce new support in their area.<\/p>\n
The session will be a mix of group discussion and presentation<\/p>\n
The session is for anyone who supports students (academics, faculty support staff, central student support services) and is interested in providing additional support\/development for students.<\/p>\n
Staff can look to introduce peer-led learning approaches in their area, whether this is something long term or just a one-off event\/activity.<\/p>\n
