The Academic Development & Diversity Team support the role of Course Leadership and facilitate the sharing of best practice, case studies and secure the on-going support from colleagues supporting the course leader such as course teams and module leaders. This ensures the initiatives and resources are sustainable and continue to meets the needs of this group of academics.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Principles of effective course leadership<\/span><\/h1>\n

The Hallam Principles of Effective Course Leadership<\/a> (word document) were developed in collaboration with existing Course Leaders by identifying good practice and successful ways of working. These 10 principles are designed to provide a flexible, but consistent bench mark for Colleges to work towards, alongside the role outlines which aim to clarify expectations of the various course leader roles and provide a basis for discussions about succession planning and development needs of academic colleagues.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

The context and precise activities may differ according to type, size and complexity of course. For the purposes of this role outline the definition of the course team will include colleagues based in the employment setting.<\/span><\/p>\n
