Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week runs from 10th – 16th May this year, and the theme is ‘Nature’.

To tie in with this, May’s Inclusive Hallam event is a little different to previous ones. Rather than holding another online Zoom event, we’re inviting staff to take an hour away from their desks on Thursday 13 May at 11am, to get outside and connect with nature in ways that support mental health and wellbeing. Whether that’s in a garden, a local park or a trail – it can be anything that involves the great outdoors.

Senior Leaders from across Hallam, as well as members of ULT, will be taking part, and as Managers we’d ask that you support your teams in being able to take the time to join in. We might not be able to be together physically right now, but to create a sense of community and mutual support, we’d love to share photos, videos and thoughts from staff on Twitter during the event using the hashtag #HallamOutdoors and @HallamStaff. If staff don’t use Twitter, they’re welcome to email the Internal Communications team with their photos for us to share.

Although this is not a physical event, we are still asking people to register via Eventbrite to determine numbers. Please follow government guidelines on travel and social distancing during the event – which will still go ahead even if the great British weather isn’t so great!

We are also running a Week in Focus in We Are Hallam to promote the importance of getting outdoors, and the resources available to support your overall wellbeing, so do keep a look out for that this week.
