68% of all and 71% of new students at Hallam in 2018/19 were from groups who have been defined as “underrepresented in higher education”. Last year the Office for Students, who regulate HE in England, launched a “bold new approach” to Access and Participation to achieve: “transformational change…[so that] future generations have equal opportunities to access and succeed in higher education (HE), and to achieve successful and rewarding careers.”
